About the Role

The Cleaning Operative role involves working with a team to safely and efficiently clean apartments and common areas to the required standards. Responsibilities include operating cleaning machines, maintaining cleanliness and safety, and presenting a professional image.

Responsibilities

  • Use of various cleaning machines including scrubber dryers, rotary scrubbers, pressure washers, and vacuum cleaning machines.
  • Follow all departmental procedures and schedules.
  • Adhere to the property sustainability plan regarding waste/recycling, including emptying bins and cleaning them when necessary.
  • Comply with all health and safety procedures, including COSHH, machinery check sheets, and PPE.
  • Ensure the safe disposal of waste and sharps as per policy.
  • Communicate and liaise with team leaders and colleagues for smooth department operation.
  • Maintain sanitary areas to the required standard and replenish supplies.
  • Report any maintenance defects related to the building and its fixtures.
  • Clean all publicly accessible areas.
  • Perform bi-weekly apartment refreshes.
  • Report any maintenance issues inside apartments to the team leader and Resident Service Manager.
  • Sweep, mop, and clean floors (inside and outside).
  • Clean public and staff toilets (male and female).
  • Clean low-level windows, glass, and wipe brass.
  • Clean walls, signage (internal and external), stairs, stairwells, and lifts.
  • Clean staff rooms, facilities, offices, risers, kitchens, external entrances, perimeters, and walkways.
  • Clean corridors and back-of-house areas.
  • Clean barriers, coffee machines, fixtures, and fittings.
  • Complete daily forms to support work carried out.
  • Clear tables quickly and efficiently.
  • Attend meetings and training on operational-related subjects.
  • Comply with all work-related health and safety regulations.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment.
  • Undertake any further duties as requested by supervision/management.
  • Deliver consistently high standards of customer service.
  • Possess good knowledge of building facilities and processes to handle customer queries, complaints, and compliments.
  • Be aware of building facilities and house rules.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of proven experience working as a cleaner.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, storage, and disposal methods.
  • Excellent customer care skills.
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning following all manual handling policies.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexible/supportive team player.
  • Smart and well-groomed appearance meeting uniform standards.
