About the Role
This position develops and delivers technical training programs to ensure the safe and effective performance of Substation Operations and Field Engineering employees, incorporating both classroom and on-the-job training with conceptual and hands-on methods.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver technical training programs.
- Incorporate conceptual and hands-on instructional methods, including lecture, technology use, presentation, props, and task demonstration.
- Participate in testing and evaluation of new tools, materials, and equipment.
- Oversee the ongoing revision and maintenance of standards and procedures.
- Conduct quality assurance audits and supervision.
- Evaluate, assess, and certify field employees.
- Analyze job tasks and current field performance with personnel and supervisors to determine training needs and program content.
- Implement training programs and field quality audit programs.
- Supervise, direct, and instruct trainees during classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job training.
- Evaluate performance during training and follow up on student learning through field visits, observations, and refresher training.
- Provide updates and incorporate new procedures and revisions into training programs.
- Review work with vendors, technical experts, engineers, and field personnel to provide operational input for new equipment selection and operation, and development of new construction standards.
- Respond to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs as part of the employee role, including potential Emergency Restoration assignments outside of normal responsibilities, hours, and location.
Requirements
- Requires knowledge of electricity transmission and distribution substations, substation design, operations, maintenance, construction, work practices, safety standards, and business processes.
- Requires leadership, coaching abilities, and schedule management skills.
- Working knowledge of labor contracts.
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Experience Level
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in utility transmission, distribution, substations, field engineering, testing, maintenance, construction, or related operations.
- Training or instructional experience preferred.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Salary/Compensations
- $133,290.00-$148,100.00
