About the Role

The Underwriting Specialist, Equipment Breakdown will use their technical skills along with strong business acumen to grow brand presence. The Specialist will be looked upon to build a book of business while working closely with the other line of business teams to provide clients with a comprehensive insurance solution. The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team, is paramount, as is the passion to develop creative ideas in seeking out new opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a profitable portfolio in accordance with underwriting philosophy and guidelines, rating, and loss ratio objectives, with accountability for new business, renewal retention, and endorsements, aligned to target appetite and growth objectives.
  • Build the brand by developing positive and constructive relationships with brokers and business partners to expand market penetration.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients to deliver account support and customized client-focused proposals.
  • Work with partners and peers to prepare quotations and negotiate coverage or rates, offering creative solutions for mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Monitor progress towards personal and business targets/goals.
  • Support continuous improvement and product development by providing constructive feedback and insights on product offerings, tools, and resources.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in the Equipment Breakdown or P&C space with proven experience underwriting new business.
  • Proven experience building lasting relationships with broker partners.
  • Strong analytical skills with an understanding of specific metrics to support effective portfolio management analysis.
  • Proven project and change management skills with the ability to deliver on deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Subject to a Background check as a condition of employment.
  • Detail-oriented work requiring a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods.
