About the Role
Deliver and pick up parts and equipment for the dealership. This role is crucial for ensuring timely delivery and pick-up of parts and equipment, contributing to the dealership's operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver parts and equipment to customers, satellite stores, wholesale accounts, and vendors.
- Coordinate pick-ups and deliveries with the parts manager, wholesale representative, inventory control administrator, parts counter people, or shipping and receiving clerk.
- Verify that invoice matches purchase order for each pick-up.
- Verify parts on customer invoice match delivery.
- Check payments received against invoices for each delivery.
- Maintain an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups, obtaining recipient signatures.
- Unload the truck daily, submitting all paperwork and undelivered parts.
- Perform basic truck maintenance, including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and ensuring inspections are completed.
- Report necessary major repairs and maintenance for delivery trucks to the parts manager.
- Contribute to maintaining the professional appearance of the parts department.
- Inquire about customer returns, including core inventory, at each stop.
- Pull parts for delivery routes and load trucks/vans.
- Assist with shipping/receiving duties as needed.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Drive across county and state lines.
- Adhere to and promote all health and safety policies to foster a safe work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with customers or other employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Must meet company insurability standards.
- Regularly required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
