About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Acquisition Squad, you will be the driving force behind key application and web development projects that directly fuel our growth. You will work closely with product managers, designers, growth marketers, and fellow engineers to build features and products that optimize our signup funnels, referral loops, and landing pages to delight prospective customers.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the architecture and development direction of the squad to ensure high-quality, maintainable, modular, and reliable code is shipped across our acquisition stack.
- Focus on backend infrastructure (Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, GraphQL) to manage discount APIs, optimize session architectures, and support core functionality.
- Collaborate with frontend experts on client-side technologies.
- Partner closely with Growth Marketing teams to maintain and optimize third-party tracking integrations.
- Manage server-side data collection, analytics event tracking, and cookie compliance.
- Eliminate single points of technical knowledge risk within the squad.
- Champion best practices in code, systems architecture, and engineering processes.
- Actively elevate team members through pair programming, mentoring, and code reviews.
Requirements
- Significant commercial experience in a senior engineering role.
- Deep, production-grade familiarity with Ruby on Rails (or other OOP languages like Python) and PostgreSQL.
- Strong familiarity and hands-on experience implementing structured A/B testing methodologies.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate directly with downstream marketing and product stakeholders.
- Ability to articulate technical/architectural decisions clearly.
- Understanding of how backend engineering and system performance impact core business metrics, user tracking, and conversion rates.
- Obsessed with dogs.
- Experience with React and TypeScript (nice to have).
- Experience with or exposure to third-party tracking & analytics tools like Segment, Google Tag Manager (GTM), Meta Pixel, Google Ads, or Amazon Advertising (nice to have).
- Familiarity with modern web architectures like GraphQL, Storyblok, and Vercel deployment workflows (nice to have).
- Exposure to Next.js (nice to have).
- Prior experience in fast-paced B2C/B2B startup environments, subscription models, or international e-commerce platforms (nice to have).
- Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not offered).
