About the Role
As a Graduate Quantitative Researcher, you will use mathematics and code to investigate complex questions, contributing directly to Optiver’s success in global markets. You will manage the full research process, from question framing and data selection to model building, testing, and deployment, with a strong emphasis on Machine Learning for signal extraction, price forecasting, and relationship modeling. Our infrastructure enables rapid idea testing and iteration.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the Global Optiver Academy structured onboarding program.
- Gain exposure to AI tools and technologies supporting research and development.
- Own the research end to end, depending on the team.
- Build models for pricing, forecasting, and signal discovery, selecting appropriate statistical, mathematical, or Machine Learning methods.
- Work with petabytes of market, order-flow, and unstructured data to identify signals that enhance strategies.
- Monitor production models and use live behavior to refine assumptions and guide future investigations.
- Utilize deep learning and AI-enabled workflows to accelerate the hypothesis-to-evidence loop.
- Collaborate with researchers, traders, and engineers to define problems and understand system constraint impacts on performance.
Requirements
- Aspiring Quantitative Researchers who are versatile and creative in innovating and suggesting new solutions.
- An academic degree in Engineering, Physics, Maths, Econometrics, Computer science or equivalent, with outstanding academic achievements.
- Programming experience in any language (preferably Python, but C, C++, Basic, JAVA, etc. are also a plus).
- Ability to apply concepts of probability, calculus, and linear algebra.
- Competitive attitude and eagerness to constantly improve.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
- Must be able to complete online assessments within 7 days of application selection.
- Not eligible to reapply if an online assessment or interview for a quantitative graduate or internship role was completed at any Optiver location in the past 8 months.
