About the Role

Our Decarbonisation team is seeking a Senior Carbon Analyst to join our talented advisory team in the UK. The successful candidate will have 7+ years of experience and will be actively involved in delivering decarbonisation consultancy services for a wide range of projects globally, from infrastructure carbon management to strategy and advisory work. The role will include a mix of long-term and short-term projects nationally and internationally, working closely with global Mott MacDonald climate change communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of carbon footprinting, lifecycle assessment, and carbon management projects.
  • Ensure successful project delivery to quality, time, and budget requirements.
  • Assess project performance against national and international standards and industry best practices.
  • Inform project design development regarding operational and embodied carbon.
  • Assist senior staff in providing strategic advice to clients to align policies and processes with net zero ambitions.
  • Develop data analysis for carbon assessment, ensuring traceability and robust calculations.
  • Write reports and present final results to clients.
  • Actively participate in the climate change community within Mott MacDonald, focusing on decarbonisation.
  • Assist junior staff in developing their carbon skills and capabilities.
  • Support bid submission preparation and opportunity development in collaboration with Account Leaders and carbon specialists across Transport, Water, Built Environment, and Energy sectors.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in delivering carbon footprinting, lifecycle assessment (LCA), or carbon management projects across various project types, particularly in the infrastructure sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate at all levels internally and across the industry.
  • Collaborative approach to maximize stakeholder engagement and influence clients and project teams.
  • Good knowledge of legislation and policy influencing carbon and climate change.
  • Familiarity with key methodologies and data sources for carbon footprinting and management, such as ISO14064, PAS2060, PAS2080.
  • Good knowledge of industry initiatives to reduce carbon impact in energy, transportation, construction, and the built environment, with a well-rounded understanding of broader sustainability and climate change issues.
  • Capacity for flexible delivery, balancing strategic thinking with detailed execution.
  • Degree/post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and client presentations.
  • Strong numerical analytical skills, including proficiency with Excel and other tools.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with net zero, carbon in construction, and environmental impact assessment, including working within EIA teams.
