About the Role
The FCA regulates UK financial services firms to ensure fair, thriving, and effective financial markets. This role is within the Enforcement & Market Oversight (EMO) Division, specifically the Wholesale and Unauthorised Business Investigations (WUBI) Directorate, which investigates serious misconduct and unauthorised activity in wholesale markets to safeguard market integrity and consumer confidence.
Responsibilities
- Conduct clear analysis of financial information and translate complex findings into accessible insights for senior stakeholders.
- Manage investigative responsibilities across various cases, contributing to effective case progression.
- Advance investigations by gathering evidence using appropriate tools and powers.
- Produce high-quality written outputs, including witness statements, statutory notices, and update papers.
- Conduct interviews under various legal formats.
- Work closely with external legal advisors, applying legal and factual analysis.
- Prepare and present well-reasoned recommendations to internal committees.
- Build constructive relationships across internal teams and external bodies.
- Support colleagues through guidance, oversight, and coaching.
Requirements
- Professionally qualified Forensic Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Experience in areas such as serious fraud, complex financial crime investigations, regulatory proceedings, or complex litigation and disputes.
- Demonstrable experience analyzing large volumes of information, identifying key findings, and producing high-quality written reports with clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Prior experience delivering both oral and written presentations.
- Experience managing a varied and demanding caseload through to completion.
- Ability to plan and develop lines of inquiry, including analyzing financial statements, management accounts, and audit papers.
- Skill in presenting financial analysis clearly and accurately.
- Ability to explain complex or unfamiliar accounting concepts to non-specialist audiences.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively and inclusively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to deliver clear, logical, and persuasive oral and written presentations on complex issues.

Salary/Compensations
- National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £43,100 to £57,000
- London £47,300 to £63,000
