About the Role

Prevail’s Platform & System Operations (PSO) team builds the tools and platforms for our technology landscape, used by intelligence analysts. We are consolidating these tools into a single intelligence platform, and this role will contribute to that evolution. You will design, build, and maintain applications from backend APIs and services to user interfaces, with ambitions to extend the platform to clients over time. This mid-level role is for someone comfortable owning features end-to-end, shaping a growing platform, and motivated by building impactful tools.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain full stack features across Databricks, Python, and AWS backend, and the frontend of internal tools.
Collaborate with Solution Engineers and analysts to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Build and maintain APIs and services on AWS.
Contribute to the consolidation of application-specific tools into a single intelligence platform, defining shared components and patterns.
Write clean, tested, and well-documented code, and participate in code reviews.
Own features from design through deployment, including monitoring and support.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues by identifying root causes across the business.
Help evolve engineering practices, tooling, and CI/CD processes.
Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
Maintain high standards of data security and information handling.

Requirements

A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven professional experience as a full stack engineer with solid hands-on experience across backend and frontend development.
Strong Python skills with experience building APIs or backend services.
Practical experience with React (or an equivalent modern frontend framework) building production user interfaces.
Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and cloud-native architecture.
Comfortable working with SQL and reasoning about data models.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down ambiguous requirements into a clear technical plan.
Good communication skills, able to work directly with Solution Engineers and analysts to clarify requirements.
A methodical approach to testing, code quality, and documentation.
High levels of IT literacy, including confidence picking up new tools and frameworks quickly.
