About the Role

We are looking for a Quantitative Analyst to join our Investments Quantitative team at L&G Institutional Retirement. The team supports various investment and retirement teams with quantitative model development and analysis, primarily using Python, for fixed income, liability modeling, portfolio optimization, and risk analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and enhancing financial models using Python for fixed income asset and pension liabilities modeling, portfolio optimization, portfolio management, risk analytics, and capital/SCR modeling.
  • Proactively improving existing tools and processes, including calculation efficiency, use of new libraries, code quality, and testing.
  • Supporting processes and tools to remove manual handovers and reduce duplication.
  • Supporting Investments teams with tool usage, troubleshooting, methodology advice, and implementing improvements.
  • Taking ownership of platform issues affecting tool usage and escalating for resolution.
  • Ensuring business and system changes adhere to best practices and IT Change Management Standards.
  • Collaborating with team members to develop accurate and well-tested solutions for technical problems.
  • Working closely with the business to support and improve tools used across the Investments function.

Requirements

  • Python development experience, including NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, or Polars.
  • Strong programming skills and understanding of computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, complexity).
  • Understanding of financial engineering concepts (no-arbitrage principles, risk-neutral methods, derivative pricing, VaR).
  • Familiarity with portfolio analytics, portfolio management, and relative value assessment.
  • Experience developing applications or large Python libraries and interfacing Excel with Python (COM or xlwings).
  • Experience with SQL, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using portfolio risk analytics tools such as BlackRock Aladdin, State Street Alpha, or SimCorp.
