About the Role
This role supports the strategic direction of the Procurement team by establishing commercial arrangements, leading sourcing events, analyzing data, and executing contracts. The Category Lead will optimize spend, drive best practices, and provide future-focused strategies.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- Execute competitive sourcing events and evaluate supplier performance.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers.
- Develop and implement supplier development programs.
- Gather and analyze category spend and existing contractual arrangements.
- Support the creation of category strategies and advance key supplier partnerships.
- Provide guidance on best-in-class procurement practices and strategic category insights.
- Manage and resolve supplier issue and dispute escalations.
- Challenge the status quo by seeking continuous improvement, innovations, and automations.
- Implement and champion ethical procurement practices, policies, supplier social responsibility, and diversity programs.
- Act as an internal consultant on sourcing practices, supplier performance, compliance, and risk management.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in telco/media/cable or a comparative procurement setting.
- Knowledge of category market trends and impacts to cost structures.
- Experience with one or more of the following services: Contact Centres, Credit Operations, Collections, Sales, Banking, or Back Office.
- Strong relationship building and business acumen.
- Ability to quickly establish credibility and influence with business stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Ability to communicate/present complex topics to executive leaders.
- Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and resolve multi-party conflicts.
- Ability to be resilient when faced with opposition with a solutionist mentality.
- Works collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
- Understands power dynamics within the spend category and will create own network for success.
- Motivated self-starter and quick study of complicated technical topics.
- Experience leading or supporting high-level negotiations.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
- Proven ability to be adaptable in a fast-paced, consistently changing environment.
- Ability to create comprehensive project plans and execute with discipline.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Project.
