About the Role

As a Senior Firefighter, you will play an important role in delivering 24/7 rescue and firefighting services across a busy airfield environment. You will work as part of a skilled and supportive fire and rescue team, responding to aviation, structural and other emergency incidents. Your calm judgment, technical capability and commitment to safety will help protect people, facilities and aircraft when it matters most.

Responsibilities

Responding to aviation, structural and other emergency incidents
Conducting rescue operations and supporting casualty care when required
Operating firefighting, rescue and specialist emergency equipment
Maintaining vehicles, personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus
Managing control room activities and dispatching emergency resources
Completing operational checks, logs and incident information accurately

Requirements

Two to Five (2-5) years of experience in fire/rescue services including two (2) years as a firefighter at an ICAO Category Five (5) airfield or above.
Additional fire/rescue work experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years formal education in the ratio of two (2) years’ experience to one (1) years education.
Military firefighting experience
Certified ‘Medically Fit’ for the role.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Computer based dispatch/control systems.
This position carries trust and responsibility. A comprehensive probity assessment, including a National Police Check, is a key part of the selection process.
Applicants must be Australian Citizens.
Serco will manage and sponsor the clearance process for the Australian Defence Security Clearance.
