About the Role
As the leader of Strategic Finance Operations, you will be the primary financial and operational force multiplier for our CEO and the founding team. You are a hybrid operator-financier tasked with ensuring the company's financial infrastructure, capital allocation, and strategic planning keep pace with our lightning-fast execution. This is a high-visibility role designed for someone who wants to see exactly how the financial engine of a high-growth, venture-backed AI startup is built from the ground up. You will act as the financial anchor for the leadership team, lead special projects spanning pricing strategy and cloud economics, lay our foundational accounting infrastructure, and ensure our capital is deployed for maximum leverage.
Responsibilities
- Own the financial operating rhythm of the company, driving budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation processes.
- Prepare financial packages for executive meetings, offsites, and board meetings to ensure data-driven decision-making.
- Take ownership of early-stage financial plumbing, including implementing scalable ERP/billing systems, ensuring GAAP compliance, managing vendor negotiations, and payroll.
- Partner directly with the CEO on future fundraising rounds, owning the financial model, managing the diligence data room, tracking critical SaaS/AI metrics, and crafting the financial narrative.
- Ensure financial alignment across Product, Engineering, and GTM, partnering with Engineering to track and optimize AI compute/cloud costs, working with Product to model pricing for new AI features, and collaborating with Sales on compensation plans and revenue recognition.
- Draft board decks, investor updates, and company-wide performance memos, synthesizing complex financial data and technical unit economics into clear, compelling narratives.
Requirements
- High Agency & Low Ego: You are a "fixer" comfortable presenting financial models to VC partners and reconciling accounts or running payroll.
- 4-7+ Years of Experience: Likely from Investment Banking, Private Equity, Big 4 Accounting (with startup experience), or a Strategic Finance / FP&A role at a high-growth startup.
- Experience in "founder-led" environments is a huge plus.
- Financially & Technically Fluent: Master of financial modeling and SaaS metrics, with an understanding of compute costs, LLM token economics, and AI pricing structures.
- CPA, CFA, or deep accounting knowledge is highly preferred.
- The "CFO" Mindset: Behave like a true owner of the company’s capital, focused on ROI and operational efficiency.
- Master Communicator: Ability to communicate financial realities to engineers and complex technical unit economics to investors with clarity and authority.
