About the Role

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver units of study consistent with the Léman mission and IB philosophy, emphasizing inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking.
Create differentiated classroom experiences by providing individual and small group instruction to achieve scaffolded support for all learners.
Develop and deliver lesson plans using a variety of techniques, group discussions, projects, exhibits, class trips, audiovisual and library resources, and technology.
Create and support a positive, safe, and nurturing classroom community utilizing Responsive Classroom.
Utilize learning management and student information systems provided by the school.
Consistently monitor and report student achievement through formal and informal assessment (summative and formative).
Assist students in analyzing and improving habits and attitudes of learning.
Counsel students with academic challenges and utilize school resources for additional academic support.
Identify and address potential behavioral concerns by notifying and/or consulting with appropriate professionals.
Keep parents informed of all elements of student development (academic performance, attendance, social-emotional learning) through formal and informal communication.
Collaborate with school staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to school requirements.
Provide student support by assisting with transitions, recess, and lunch duty.
Communicate in a positive, professional manner with families, keeping them informed of progress and potential concerns.
Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school.
Grow professionally by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
Demonstrate flexibility and a positive attitude toward new challenges and growth opportunities.
Participate in school-wide events and attend during and after-school functions in support of the school community.
Complete a minimum of two duties as assigned by Division Head.
Attend and participate in all required faculty and staff meetings.
Serve on school committees as required.
Complete responsibilities as assigned by Division Head or direct supervisor based on student and school needs.
Demonstrate a commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work.
Foster an inclusive learning community.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Education
At least 3 years teaching experience in a high-performing school
Certifications or licenses specific to age group
Commitment to the school’s mission, core values, and inclusion statement
Experience interpreting and using multiple forms of data to inform instruction
Knowledge and experience developing and assessing curriculum
Experience with integration of instructional technology
Excellent written communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
