About the Role

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOF) is seeking a professor in social work to contribute to its mission of training competent, reflective, and engaged professionals. This role is key to developing and promoting the social work program, aligning with UOF's strategic goals and the needs of Francophone communities in Ontario. The position involves teaching, research, and community service within the social work program.

Responsibilities

Teach courses in the social work program based on expertise and program needs.
Design and update course outlines, teaching materials, and evaluation methods.
Supervise students in research projects, directed studies, and other training activities.
Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of the program.
Develop and maintain an active research program in social work.
Disseminate research findings to scientific, professional, and public communities.
Develop research collaborations and partnerships, particularly with practice settings and Francophone communities.
Contribute to UOF's research capacity and outreach.
Participate in university life and governance, including committees and academic bodies.
Contribute to the development, outreach, and continuous improvement of the social work program.
Participate in community service activities and build relationships with community, social, and health organizations.
Exercise collaborative leadership with colleagues and contribute to UOF's strategic priorities.
Coordinate the program's internship offerings.
Ensure the academic leadership of practical training and internships, including supporting the internship coordinator.

Requirements

Doctorate (PhD) in social work, or a Master's degree in social work and a Doctorate (PhD) in education.
Excellent pedagogical skills and relevant university teaching experience.
Relevant professional experience in social work and good knowledge of the realities, issues, and practices of social work in Ontario.
Demonstrated research record or potential in one or more areas related to social work.
Mastery of the French language and a strong interest in multilingualism and multiculturalism.
Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), or eligible for registration.
Experience in practical social work training, particularly in supervising internships.
Experience collaborating with community, social, or health organizations and other practice settings, especially within Francophone communities in Ontario.
Empathy, listening skills, and sensitivity to diverse realities and experiences of individuals and communities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build relationships based on respect, openness, and trust.
Ability to teach effectively in French and create an inclusive, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals and teams, both within the university and with practice settings and community partners.
Leadership, collegiality, and credibility in a university and professional setting.
Critical, reflective, creative thinking, open to diverse perspectives and approaches.
Flexibility, adaptability, and agility in a changing university environment.
In-depth knowledge of experiential learning pedagogy.
Ability to manage complex internship situations (risk of failure, conflicts, ethical issues).

Proficiency in common digital tools and ability to integrate them effectively into teaching, research, and collaboration activities.
