About the Role

The Behavioral Health Counselor provides integrated mental health and substance abuse services, including individual, group, and family therapy, clinical case management, assessments, evaluations, and crisis intervention within SFUSD high school Wellness Centers. This role is part of a collaborative project between RAMS, SFDPH, and SFUSD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally competent school-based mental health and substance abuse counseling services to individuals, groups, and families.
  • Conduct clinical intakes, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Provide case management and consultation, primarily at school sites.
  • Conduct outreach and education on mental health and substance abuse services to students, families, community members, professionals, and school staff.
  • Develop and maintain administrative and client care treatment records.
  • Provide clinical training and education to staff, trainees, and interns.
  • Participate in required internal and external trainings.
  • Represent RAMS as the behavioral health professional on the Wellness Center core team.
  • Collaborate closely with all Wellness team members.
  • Participate in SAP/SST meetings as requested.
  • Participate in Wellness Center team clinical meetings.
  • Attend administrative team meetings at RAMS clinic site.
  • Provide crisis intervention, assessments, and triage of students.
  • Provide consultation and in-service training to school staff as needed.
  • Provide group intervention.
  • Coordinate with School Health Program staff to provide direct clinical services to students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • MS/MA in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • BBS or Board of Psychology registration or licensure (AMFT/LMFT, ACSW/LCSW, LPCC, Psychologist).
  • One year of work experience providing on-site mental health and substance abuse services to youth/teens in high-school-based settings.
  • One year of work experience providing mental health and substance abuse treatment services in a community mental health setting.
