About the Role

Ice Miller is seeking a summer associate interested in patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation to join our Intellectual Property team. The 10-week program offers exposure to practice groups, opportunities to develop working relationships with attorneys and patent agents, guidance and mentoring, in-depth training, client contact, social events, and competitive compensation.

Responsibilities

• Exposure to Intellectual Property practice group and other firm practice groups
• Develop working relationships with attorneys and patent agents
• Enhance research, writing, and presentation skills
• Receive guidance, mentoring, and regular feedback
• Participate in in-depth training focused on professional and substantive legal skills
• Gain opportunities for client contact
• Engage in social events and team building activities

Requirements

• Eligible to take the Patent Bar
• Interest in litigation
• Strong writing and analytical ability
• Ability to excel in a team environment
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Prior work experience (legal, military, or service industry)
• Curious, motivated, and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic work environments
• Ability to manage time and projects diligently
• Prior experiences that prepare them to work with diverse attorneys/agents, staff, and clients
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States
• Obtained an undergraduate degree
• Enrolled in the JD class of 2028 at an accredited law school
