About the Role
The Department of Facilities Management and Development at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Trades Generalist to perform journey-level work in one trade and skilled/semiskilled work in other trades for facility and equipment repair and maintenance. Incumbents may supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities.
- Plan and lay out construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
- Perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled maintenance, repair, installation, and construction tasks in the mechanical, building, motor equipment, and electrical trades.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid New York State driver's license.
- Must have completed a recognized apprenticeship program in a building trade or in the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, or motor equipment, OR have two years of experience as a trades helper or apprentice in a recognized trade, OR have two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment, including at least one year of experience performing journey-level work in one of the building trades.
