About the Role
Manhattan Children’s Center (MCC) is seeking a positive, dynamic Custodian to join a therapeutic team focused on helping every child thrive. This role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment within our educational and therapeutic facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of classrooms, offices, bathrooms, common areas, and other designated areas.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain floors throughout the building.
- Empty and dispose of trash and recycling from classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, floors, and other fixtures.
- Clean and maintain classrooms, including desks, surfaces, floors, and other frequently used areas.
- Clean and maintain administrative offices and shared workspaces.
- Restock bathroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
- Assist with general building upkeep and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Perform minor building repairs and basic maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and addressing minor issues.
- Identify and report maintenance, safety, or repair concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow established health, safety, and sanitation procedures at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in custodial, maintenance, facilities, or building operations preferred.
- Experience working in a school, office, healthcare, or similar facility is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation practices, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
- Ability to safely operate basic cleaning equipment and tools.
- Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment as required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff and building personnel.
