About the Role

The Banquet/Catering Houseperson supports the successful execution of catered events by assisting with setup, maintenance, and breakdown of event spaces and equipment. This role ensures proper arrangement of banquet and catering areas, maintains cleanliness and organization of event resources, and provides operational support to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with event space setup, including furniture placement and equipment distribution.
  • Move, place, and remove tables, chairs, staging, bars, and other event furnishings.
  • Count, organize, transport, and distribute event equipment, including tables, chairs, rolling bars, china, silverware, glassware, linens, and related service items.
  • Manage linen inventory by receiving, storing, distributing, collecting, and preparing linens for return.
  • Clean, sanitize, and polish event furniture, fixtures, equipment, glassware, silverware, china, action stations, and other service items.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked event and staging areas throughout service.
  • Bus tables and remove used service ware during events.
  • Retrieve and deliver supplies, equipment, and materials from designated storage areas.
  • Participate in event breakdown by collecting, organizing, and returning all equipment, furniture, beverages, linens, and service items.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory standards within all banquet and catering storage areas.
  • Perform assigned side work and operational support tasks.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and company operational standards.
  • Attend all required meetings, training sessions, and departmental briefings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, catering, banquet operations, event services, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience handling event furniture, banquet equipment, or large-scale room setups preferred.
  • OSHA, ServSafe, or comparable hospitality safety certification preferred.
  • Experience working in high-volume hospitality, convention, stadium, arena, attraction, hotel, or special event environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and event days.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret event diagrams, floor plans, and setup instructions.
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, team members, and leadership.
  • Must maintain professional appearance, grooming standards, and personal hygiene.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to safely handle and transport equipment, furnishings, and materials throughout the venue.
  • Ability to remain standing and active for extended periods during event operations.

Skills

  • Knowledge of banquet setups, event configurations, table settings, and service ware preferred.
