About the Role

Ryder is seeking a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Liverpool, NY. This role offers a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits, utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools for heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
  • Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
  • Performs preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer.
  • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Replaces defective components as instructed.
  • Works unsupervised on most tasks.
  • Performs facility maintenance duties.
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of a complaint.
  • Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
  • Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines.
  • Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
  • Demonstrates the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
  • Provides other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support.
  • Achieves SBTIII training within 180 days.
  • Completes 2 of the OEM On-Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
  • Routine preventative maintenance experience, including oil changes, brake and tire work.
  • Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required.
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred.
  • All other certification as required by location, required.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
  • Must pass a Ryder Drug Test.
  • Must pass a DOT physical.
  • Must pass a Ryder road test.
  • Must pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
  • Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check and a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
