About the Role
Ryder is seeking a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Liverpool, NY. This role offers a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits, utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools for heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
- Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer.
- Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision.
- Replaces defective components as instructed.
- Works unsupervised on most tasks.
- Performs facility maintenance duties.
- Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of a complaint.
- Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
- Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines.
- Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
- Demonstrates the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
- Provides other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support.
- Achieves SBTIII training within 180 days.
- Completes 2 of the OEM On-Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred.
- Basic tools required.
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
- Routine preventative maintenance experience, including oil changes, brake and tire work.
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required.
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred.
- All other certification as required by location, required.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
- Must pass a Ryder Drug Test.
- Must pass a DOT physical.
- Must pass a Ryder road test.
- Must pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
- Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check and a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
