About the Role

The Electromagnetics group is seeking a professional in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Control to support electrical systems on all submarine platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of electromagnetic coupling and potential electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems on submarine systems.
  • Conduct EMC testing and determine EMC test requirements for system procurement specifications.
  • Perform shipboard system testing and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and implement ESD requirements through the company-wide ESD control program.
  • Conduct technical evaluations for potentially damaged equipment.
  • Provide deckplate support for ESD issues and concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
  • 5+ years of related experience in electromagnetic/electrical fields.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret DoD security clearance.
  • Related experience in electromagnetic analysis, evaluation, and modeling.
  • Experience with electromagnetic hands-on testing (DoD or commercial).
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, and other general electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend materials, components, and design modifications to improve EMC/EMI performance.
  • Experience collaborating with design and development teams to integrate EMC/EMI considerations into product designs.
  • Experience with electrostatic discharge analysis, evaluation, testing, and program management.
  • Practical/theoretical EMC or ESD experience with requirements associated with MIL-STD-461, DOD-STD-1399 Section 070, NAVSEA S9407-AB-HBK-010, ANSI/ESD S20.20, IEC 61000-4-2, or MIL-STD-1686.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Opera 3d (or other finite element analysis software), LabVIEW, SPICE-based simulation software, Visual Studio (using Visual Basic-based language), and/or Teamcenter.
