About the Role

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for managing pharmacy operations and services, providing strong, visible, values-driven leadership and advocacy for pharmacy. This role ensures pharmacy operations align with the overall department program, emphasizes patient safety and optimized outcomes, and delivers the highest value care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage pharmacy operations and services for a moderately sized and complex area, or multiple critical access hospital sites.
  • Provide strong, visible, values-driven leadership and advocacy for pharmacy.
  • Ensure pharmacy operations align with the overall department program, incorporate best practices, and emphasize patient safety and optimized outcomes.
  • Deliver the highest value care to patients and the organization.
  • Ensure alignment with departmental and institutional strategic vision, direction, and priorities.
  • Manage pharmacy services to meet or exceed all quality, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Actively participate in and support pharmacy education programs and scholarly activity.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (or Pharmacy BS degree if graduated before 2000).
  • Completion of an accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency and a minimum of 1 year applicable pharmacy experience; or a minimum of 3 years applicable pharmacy experience.
  • Applicable experience includes providing, developing, implementing and overseeing progressive pharmacy operations in an integrated healthcare system and/or proven history of providing progressive services and leadership as a pharmacist.
  • Strong commitment and evidence of achieving excellence.
  • Proven history of successfully working in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proven history of a commitment to patient care and alignment with Mayo Clinic values.
  • Requirements must be met by employment start date.
  • Previous supervisory/management experience (preferred).
  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. MHA, MBA, MPH) (preferred).
  • Completion of leadership or management educational programs (e.g. ASHP leadership program, Mayo programs) (preferred).
  • History of active participation and leadership in pharmacy professional organizations (preferred).
  • Current license to practice Pharmacy in the state he/she is located.
  • Board Certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (preferred).
