About the Role
The Opening Legal Assistant is responsible for managing all aspects of case initiation across the firm. This role processes, reviews, and requests all necessary supporting documents at the start of each case to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and send letters of representation to all applicable parties.
- Confirm client initiation of medical treatment for reported injuries.
- Request supporting records and bills from all relevant providers.
- Establish claims with all applicable insurance carriers.
- Communicate case updates to the assigned Attorney and Legal Assistant during the Opening process.
- Review and process case-related correspondence in the firm’s paperless system.
- Research and identify all potential Defendants and available insurance coverage.
- Be the backup to the Front Desk.
- Perform additional administrative duties as needed.
Requirements
- Prior office or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to quickly adapt to and work with firm-specific software and other necessary computer programs.
