About the Role

Edison Scientific is seeking an engineer to develop and maintain AI scientist agents, focusing on prototyping new capabilities, improving platform evolution, and understanding customer workflows to enhance agent performance, reliability, and usefulness across the life sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain AI agents from prototype through production.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to explore new agent architectures, prompting strategies, tool integrations, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Develop reusable infrastructure, including agent skills, tool-use pipelines, and benchmarks.
  • Engage with R&D partners to understand workflows, test solutions in real environments, and provide feedback.
  • Translate field insights and internal research into product direction and prioritization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping production systems.
  • Experience building LLM-powered tools or applications (prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, evaluation frameworks).
  • Strong engineering foundation in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and frameworks.
  • Capacity to work across engineering, science, and product teams.
  • Comfort building from scratch, driving clarity in ambiguous situations, and handling multiple responsibilities.
