About the Role
The General Merchandise Sales Executive Team Leader role is crucial for ensuring a consistent and positive guest experience by overseeing operations, inventory, and sales processes within General Merchandise areas. This role focuses on driving sales, managing a team, and fostering a guest-first culture.
Responsibilities
- Drive total store sales and understand departmental impact on profitability.
- Manage a team executing inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for GM areas.
- Manage a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work to enable efficient guest delivery.
- Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead the team to prioritize guest experience and store sales goals.
- Develop and execute workload plans to ensure guest readiness.
- Create scheduling plans based on business workload and guest traffic.
- Conduct regular check-ins with the team to ensure task completion.
- Manage GM backroom and sales floor areas, identify gaps, and develop resolution plans.
- Oversee Team Leaders' workload planning, including transitions, revisions, and sales plans for GM areas.
- Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to fulfill orders accurately and efficiently.
- Assess competition, leverage guest insights, and drive business objectives.
- Plan, manage, and follow up on organizational and operational changes.
- Anticipate and identify changes in store trends.
- Develop and coach Team Leaders to elevate team skills and expertise.
- Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
- Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit for short and long-term needs.
- Demonstrate and enforce a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
- Follow all safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier.
- Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Requirements
- 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong business acumen.
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
- Ability to manage conflict, lead, and hold others accountable.
- Ability to relate well and interact with all levels of the organization.
- Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, and financial/quantitative analysis.
- Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
- Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information.
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds.
- Accurately handle cash register operations.
- Climb up and down ladders.
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and regular attendance necessary.
