About the Role
We’re looking for a senior full‑stack engineer to support our DX team at Atlassian. You’ll work end‑to‑end on features: from shaping vague problem statements with product and design, to shipping high‑quality code, to measuring impact and iterating quickly.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship features and capabilities daily in a highly scalable, cross-geo distributed environment.
- Focus on backend-heavy fullstack development, building robust REST APIs while contributing to customer-facing React components.
- Review code with best practices of readability, testing patterns, documentation, reliability, security, and performance considerations in mind.
- Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and product managers to understand user pain points and iterate on great solutions.
- Ensure full visibility, error reporting, and monitoring of high-performing backend services.
- Participate in Agile software development including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and team retrospectives.
- Write performant raw SQL to power complex queries, reports, and data workflows.
- Collaborate closely with product and design to shape problem statements, refine requirements, and propose pragmatic technical solutions when specs are incomplete or ambiguous.
- Own projects end‑to‑end: architecture, implementation, self‑QA, rollout, monitoring, and iteration based on customer and stakeholder feedback.
- Hold a high bar for quality: write clear, maintainable code, comprehensive tests, and robust monitoring/alerting where appropriate.
- Contribute to improving our engineering practices, tooling, and standards, especially around data correctness, reporting, and reliability.
Requirements
- 7+ years of industry experience building and developing backend applications with a lean towards fullstack capabilities.
- Proficiency in any modern object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Go, Scala, Python).
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and supporting libraries (e.g., React, Node).
- Experience crafting and implementing highly scalable and performant RESTful micro-services.
- Fluency in at least one database technology (e.g., RDBMS like Postgres and/or NoSQL like DynamoDB).
- Familiarity with cloud architecture patterns and hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (AWS preferred).
- A passion for collaboration and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Zone A: $180,000 - $235,000
- Zone B: $162,000 - $211,500
- Zone C: $149,400 - $195,050
