About the Role

As Head of Advanced Market & Field Underwriting, you will play a key role in positioning, strengthening, and growing iA’s presence within advanced case and national accounts segments. This position is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and fully realize your potential within a caring and trustworthy company. In this role, you will provide end-to-end leadership on complex files, leveraging deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and field credibility. Acting as a central anchor between underwriting, sales, risk management, and key partners, you will actively contribute to promoting iA’s value proposition, enhancing distribution capabilities, and supporting internal talent development.

Responsibilities

Assume end-to-end accountability for advanced market cases and national accounts, from pre-underwriting through to in-force servicing.
Develop and position iA’s field underwriting expertise with specialized advisors and distribution partners.
Provide strong technical leadership in both medical and financial risk assessment.
Analyze and assess complex sales concepts to ensure alignment with risk appetite, profitability objectives, and client experience.
Lead and mobilize a multidisciplinary team, including underwriters, case coordinators, and specialized experts (e.g., tax, actuarial), while acting as a credible leader with internal teams, distribution partners, and reinsurers.
Prepare and deliver presentations and training sessions, and actively support talent development and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

Strong expertise in advanced market underwriting, including field underwriting and knowledge of individual insurance products.
Ability to navigate complex environments with credibility, leadership, and a collaborative approach.
Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify and explain complex underwriting and sales concepts to diverse audiences.
Ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams while fostering talent development and knowledge transfer.
Significant experience in underwriting within the advanced market segment, including proven leadership in managing high-impact, cross-functional initiatives.
Advanced level of English proficiency required for interactions, presentations, and collaboration with partners, distributors, and stakeholders across Canada.
