About the Role

FSA Federal is seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant II to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) in a nationwide law enforcement initiative that removes the tools of crime from criminal organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in reviewing case material, including gathering and analyzing information and preparing digests of decisions with legal references.
  • Draft, edit, and review non-legal information, create correspondence, and prepare research reports.
  • Prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting in the creation and organization of statistical charts and photographs.
  • Interview potential witnesses and prepare summary interview reports.
  • Review legal documents to confirm citations and legal references.
  • Attend pre-trial meetings to review case materials for missing or questionable information and request corrections.
  • Prepare summaries of testimony and depositions during or after trial.
  • Investigate case facts and laws, search public records, and prepare cases and research reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Paralegal Certificate or High School Diploma/GED with at least two years of related experience in a law office or government setting.
  • Trial and automated litigation support experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand the organization and functions of the customer.
  • Knowledge to conduct basic legal research, including standard legal citation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including legal writing.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other common software applications, databases, and legal research tools.
  • Proven commitment and expertise to provide excellent customer service; positive and flexible.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, deliver high-quality work, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Minimum 7-year background investigation required.
