About the Role

Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, including casting and bracing, managing clinic inventory, overseeing medications, and maintaining OSHA compliance. This role also involves backing up clinic staffing and documenting patient care in the EMR system.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with daily patient care activities, including MA and Ortho Tech responsibilities.
• Ensure clinic cleanliness and orderly inventory and storage of all DME and clinical supplies.
• Assist with maintaining proper reorder levels for supplies.
• Assist the Office Manager in training and performance improvement of clinical staff.
• Serve as a mentor for clinic staff and a resource to mid-level and physician providers regarding EMR system, clinic policies, and procedures.
• Answer medical questions for clinic and administrative staff.
• Voice concerns regarding protocols, workflow, or staffing with the Office Manager.
• Work with physician staff to ensure quality patient care and services.
• Ensure compliance with clinic standards of quality patient care and all clinical protocols.
• Complete special projects as directed by the Office Manager or Director of Patient Services.
• Manage assigned location inventory and act as a super user for the Inventory program.
• Capture insurance benefits and authorization requirements for DME.
• Maintain quality standards for DME according to Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal or state agency regulations.
• Back up and perform essential functions of MA and Ortho Tech during vacancies or shortages.
• Manage Tech-only appointments for the assigned location.
• Manage medication and medication samples.
• Maintain OSHA compliance through routine autoclave cleaning and testing, AED/Emergency equipment checks, and stocking Sick/PPE boxes.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mastery of clinic skills and DME/casting/splinting checklists.
• Knowledge of computer systems and applications, including EMR.
• Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements.
• Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Ability to differentiate confidential information and communicate appropriately.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of medical and surgical care.
• Requires exposure to bodily fluids.
• Requires sitting, bending, stooping, and stretching.
• Ability to walk frequently and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to assist patients weighing up to 300 pounds and place them in appropriate positions for procedures.
• Must have full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret written material, and perform procedures.
• Must have adequate hearing and speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others.
• Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.
• Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate reports.

Salary/Compensations

• $17.00 - $24.50 Hourly
