About the Role

Dillon Consulting is seeking a Junior/Intermediate Transportation Planner/Engineer to join our Integrated Mobility Services team. This role involves working on diverse projects, providing clients with exceptional service, and contributing to sustainable transportation systems, multi-modal access, and infrastructure development.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to traffic engineering/operations studies, transit planning, and multi-modal transportation planning projects.
  • Conduct policy development, demand forecasting, master plans, corridor studies, traffic impact assessments, and accessibility studies.
  • Provide project coordination and team leadership.
  • Complete traffic, transit, or multi-modal transportation planning and engineering projects.
  • Write proposals and support marketing efforts.
  • Attend meetings and liaise with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Travel as required for project needs.
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning.
  • Drive continuous learning and mentor junior staff in data science and digital project delivery.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through professional association participation.

Requirements

  • A degree in urban planning, civil engineering, or equivalent.
  • Two to six years of professional experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, including basic programming skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities in multidisciplinary project teamwork and coordination.
  • Well-developed report writing, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency working with Python is an asset.
  • Demonstrated abilities in GIS software (ArcView GIS) or traffic modeling software (e.g., Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM) is an asset.
  • Strong interest and knowledge in strategic transit planning, transit operations studies, on-demand transit, transit terminal/station/mobility hub studies, integrated mobility/transportation policy development, accessibility studies, transit ridership forecasting, rapid transit corridor studies, transportation master plans, transit ITS and fleet electrification, public and agency consultation, Traffic Impact Assessments (TIAs), traffic operations studies, signal design analysis, intersection capacity analysis, queuing analysis, or road safety reviews.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to visualize long-range implications of decisions and analysis results.

  • Strong communication skills for writing and speaking to various stakeholder audiences.
  • Strong interest in the business development aspects of planning and engineering consulting.
