About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will implement architectural designs, create applications, evaluate and implement new technologies, redesign existing applications, mentor teammates, solve problems, and resolve defects in an Agile environment. You will support HID's success by providing enterprise architecture guidance, helping define and evolve the technical vision with a focus on microservices and replaceability, and evaluating/recommending technology choices to meet business strategy.

Evaluating and recommending technology choices to proactively meet IdenTrust’s business strategy with a perspective towards future adaptation
Maintaining an ongoing awareness of industry standards and emerging technologies and how these relate to existing needs, potential product needs, technical needs and opportunities
Taking the initiative to find software architecture education opportunities and share learnings with peer group and leaders
Developing new applications, maintaining existing applications, and identifying and deprecating obsolete code
Preserving and automating the deployment of developer source code and software assets via CI/CD
Working collaboratively with other developers and providing input, direction, and vision for IdenTrust's product implementation
Acting as a technical mentor for Software Engineering and QA team members
Facilitating team member opportunities to design, while steering them clear of problematic practices
Creating, publishing, and evangelizing development and data model standards and guidelines
Participating in code reviews through pull/merge requests
Working closely with engineering and product owners to understand functional requirements as a part of a product vision
Maintaining consistency with the company’s technical vision
Providing third-tier support when needed
Guiding and consulting with other engineering teams on critical design or performance issues
Evaluating technologies, evangelizing standards and defining long term strategies
Developing and modernizing code and systems, automating using pipelines, supporting critical issues
Guiding peer engineers, steering software design, reviewing engineering output
Translating business requirements and educating the organization

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, information systems, or a related field. Candidates with equivalent education, plus relevant work experience, may also be considered.
Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience.
Sound working knowledge of Application architecture principles
Sound working knowledge of Design patterns and their implementation
Sound working knowledge of Spring Boot, Docker and Kubernetes
Sound working knowledge of Spring, JBoss and/or Tomcat containers; HTTP, JSON, XML, and Web Service protocols
Sound working knowledge of Java, JSP, Java Servlets, React and/or Angular, SQL, NoSQL and web development concepts
Sound working knowledge of Microservices, GraphQL or REST
Sound working knowledge of Version control systems, Gitflow branch/release management
Experience in decomposing monolith applications
Good knowledge of containerized application deployment
Understanding of dependency management (Maven, Jenkins or Gradle)
Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and the tools that support it (Jenkins, Hudson, Bamboo, GitLab, etc.)
Experience working in Agile Development methodology (Scrum, XP, SAFe, etc.)
Understanding of cloud application architecture in Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform
Experience with Event-Driven integrations
Experience and knowledge of PKI, Certificate lifecycle management, and Hardware secure modules is preferred
