About the Role
The Senior National Account Manager will drive profitable growth across Tier-1 UK grocery retailers, acting as the primary commercial lead. Success involves delivering Joint Business Plans, launching new products, and achieving volume and margin targets in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage total commercial performance, budgets, and promotional spend for leading grocery retailers.
- Develop and execute multi-year Joint Business Plans aligning manufacturer capabilities with retailer goals.
- Build and maintain multi-level relationships with retail buyers, category managers, and supply chain partners.
- Partner with NPD to translate market trends into commercially viable private label propositions.
- Lead complex tenders, annual price reviews, and contract negotiations.
- Analyze account data and market trends to address risks and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Coordinate with operations and logistics to ensure service levels and accurate volume forecasting.
- Act as the 'Voice of the Customer' to influence UK retail strategy and manufacturing priorities.
- Manage administrative requirements including retailer portals, promotional forecasting, and pricing administration.
Requirements
- 5+ years of National Account Management experience within the FMCG food industry.
- Proven track record of managing at least one 'Big 4' UK grocery retailer (Tesco experience highly preferred).
- Significant experience working with private label / retailer own-brand products.
- Strong P&L literacy, including managing trade spend and calculating margins.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-stakes tenders and annual commercial negotiations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to remain productive and disciplined in a fully remote/home-based environment.
