About the Role

Days Inn, an emergency shelter for asylum-seeking families with children in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking a Residential Aide to ensure client safety, facility security, and smooth operations. This role involves direct client interaction, escorting clients to appointments, and collaborating with the Social Services team.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting intake and orientation for new clients, including explaining processes, rules, and regulations, copying and filing IDs, and assigning rooms.
  • Conducting and documenting patrols to ensure client compliance with site rules and regulations for health and safety.
  • Ensuring clients receive timely notices of meetings and appointments, and escorting them when necessary.
  • Distributing meals to clients.
  • Managing the inventory and security of possessions for clients who do not return to the site.
  • Using the DHS CARES system to track vacancies, code clients, and print rosters.
  • Documenting any incidents that occur during the shift.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills.
  • FDNY F-02 Fireguard Certificate required (30-day allowance to obtain).
  • NYC Food Handler’s Certification (30-day allowance to obtain).
  • Work experience in a residential facility.
  • Experience and capacity to work with people experiencing homelessness or other disadvantaged people.
  • Strong relationship and customer service skills.

Skills

  • Bilingual fluency is strongly preferred.

Salary/Compensations

  • Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage, prevailing wage, or exempt salary requirements under federal, state and local laws.
