About the Role
Health Center Inc. is a NYC-based healthcare organization providing comprehensive medical and diagnostic services to Union members at no charge. We are seeking Medical Assistants to support our mission of delivering top-notch medical services and making a positive impact in under-represented communities. This role offers a stable work schedule with no weekends or overnights.
Responsibilities
- Review patient schedule and ensure medical record availability.
- Prepare examination rooms before patient arrival.
- Verify medical record completeness, including locating and inserting necessary forms and lab slips.
- Record patient vital signs before physician examination.
- Explain EKG/Holter monitor tests to patients as needed.
- Perform EKGs, ensure physician review and sign-off, and file in the medical record.
- Conduct routine tests as directed by a physician.
- Handle phone calls, copying, filing, and faxing.
- Respond to routine patient inquiries.
- Sterilize instruments as required.
- Arrange referrals for internal and external tests as directed by a physician or nurse.
- Coordinate patient transportation pickups.
- Escort patients within the center.
- Update medical records as necessary.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High school graduate preferred.
- Previous experience in a physician's office or healthcare setting.
- Prior relevant formal training.
- Medical Assistant Certificate.
- BLS Certificate.
