About the Role
The Program Manager is responsible for driving Best Buddies' mission forward by engaging communities in our school and community-based Friendship Programs. This role supports members in creating inclusive communities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by managing volunteers and ensuring a high-quality experience. The Program Manager serves as a key contact, providing support, resources, and regular communication to program participants and volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Support chapters through direct and consistent communication via virtual networks, online platforms, and in-person meetings.
- Provide mission-focused guidance and support to chapter members and volunteers.
- Offer information on web-based resources and training opportunities.
- Track reporting and chapter updates using online platforms.
- Communicate programmatic goals, responsibilities, and risk policies to volunteers.
- Track and support volunteers' growth within the organization.
- Manage state citizen matches and support corporate chapters.
- Host community trainings to promote awareness and engagement in the Best Buddies mission.
- Support awareness and promotion of Best Buddies on social media and through marketing efforts.
- Represent Best Buddies programs through public speaking and community involvement.
- Support stewardship efforts by providing information on volunteer engagement, friendship matches, and programmatic impact.
- Communicate opportunities for volunteers to participate in organization-wide marketing efforts.
- Promote the use and adherence of the Best Buddies style guide for chapter projects.
- Advance fundraising efforts by providing direct support and engaging volunteers.
- Attend and support state and national fundraising events.
- Provide data and assessment on program impact for fundraising proposals and donor reporting.
- Ensure chapter participation in the Annual Best Buddies Leadership Conference and Friendship Walk.
- Ensure compliance with Best Buddies policies and procedures, including incident reporting.
- Maintain confidential and sensitive Best Buddies information and participant PII.
- Use communication platforms including Bene, Microsoft Outlook, social media, and Salesforce.
- Maintain data integrity and tracking in all systems.
- Abide by professional standards for staff when working with volunteers and program participants.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree or 2 years of relevant experience in volunteer management.
- Comfortable engaging with people with IDD, including youth and adults.
- Adaptable and able to develop and balance multiple relationships effectively.
- Basic project and time management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong initiative, drive for results, and self-assessment skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear understanding of multiple communication platforms and proficient use of social media.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel frequently, use personal cell phone, and work evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Access to an automobile with applicable insurance or other reliable transportation.
