About the Role
We are seeking an experienced individual to play a significant role in new product development and the evolution of our current product lines, including salsas, sauces, chips, tortillas, cookies, beans, taco shells, and seasonings.
Responsibilities
- Create innovative, heritage-inspired food that is dietarily inclusive.
- Champion flavor, texture, and clean labels in products, ensuring scaling processes do not compromise these attributes.
- Support the formulation process from start to finish, including research, planning, development, refinement, and product launch.
- Work cross-functionally with the Operational team and co-manufacturing partners to gather manufacturing processing and equipment information.
- Test and assist with benchtop ingredient sourcing and develop basic initial raw material specifications.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to scale products, set production processes, maximize shelf life, and overcome technical roadblocks.
- Develop bench-top samples for presentation to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support formula documentation and records across various systems throughout development.
- Assist with innovation and renovation initiatives to create new products and renovate existing ones.
- Contribute culinary expertise to guide and accelerate product development and reformulation.
- Travel approximately 25% of the time to support supplier and co-manufacturing relations, plant trials, and provide on-site support.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a chef or product developer/food technologist in a professional capacity required.
- Proficiency with Excel or Google Docs is preferred.
- Previous experience with food labeling software such as Genesis is preferred.
