About the Role
Provides administrative oversight of assigned departments, ensuring financial viability, staffing, policy development, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. Covers for the Administrator as needed, including weekend shifts. Acts as Corporate Compliance Officer, overseeing the plan, audits, training, and investigations.
Responsibilities
- Provides administrative oversight of assigned departments in all areas of operation.
- Maintains a financially viable census.
- Manages staffing considerations.
- Develops policies and procedures.
- Manages budgeting expenditures.
- Ensures compliance with Department of Health regulations.
- Provides Administrator coverage in the absence of the Administrator, including weekend coverage.
- Completes assigned audits, analyzes results, compiles corrective actions, and presents findings to the Quality Assurance Committee quarterly.
- Assists with developing facility-wide inservices as necessary.
- Acts as Corporate Compliance Officer, including oversight of the plan, audits, training, and investigation of internal complaints and development of corrective action.
- Conducts quarterly Committee meetings.
- Completes Department of Health reportable paperwork, including initial and five-day reports, in the absence of the Vice President of Long Term Care Services.
- Is actively involved in the Department of Health recertification survey process.
- Implements necessary plans of correction, including policy and procedure revisions, inservicing, and performing assigned audits.
- Reviews all facility transfer agreements annually and ensures updates and renewals.
- Coordinates and participates in facility-wide disaster drills and/or missing resident drills.
- Evaluates drill results, completes a written report of the drill and outcomes, and suggests corrections.
- Assists in investigations regarding grievances, complaints, and employee relations issues, including gathering information, analyzing data for trends, and reporting findings.
- Assists with obtaining prior authorizations for prescriptions in the absence of the Health Information Manager.
- Completes the weekly Department of Health Covid Report.
- Assists with the Annual Employee Flu Vaccine report as assigned.
- Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility’s corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws.
- Adheres to the facility’s confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees.
- Performs other functions as directed by the Vice President of Long Term Care Services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services Management or related field.
- Current New York State Nursing Home Administrator’s License.
- At least two years experience in a health-related field.
- Ability to work independently with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Department of Health Nursing Home regulations.
