About the Role
York Space Systems is seeking a passionate candidate with an Aerospace and Software background to join their Simulation, Integration, and Test (SIT) team. The SIT department ensures successful satellite deployment and operation by supporting flight software, ground software, vehicle test, and mission operations. This role involves collaborating with engineering teams to develop and maintain modern software engineering solutions, employing rigorous testing processes, and supporting ground software systems for satellite communication, monitoring, and control.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute software integration, regression, and release testing for flight software, ground software, interface middleware, and other SIT products.
- Translate high-level designs, use cases, and requirements into high-quality test scripts.
- Interact with other York departments to support testing using SIT products.
- Support test-like-you-fly, test-driven development for spacecraft flight software, ground software, and space vehicle integration.
- Write and execute test plan documents and use cases with collaboration from other York developers.
- Perform troubleshooting and debugging of SIT tests and infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain automated integration tests for ground software and flight software CI/CD pipelines.
- Diagnose and triage test failures, pipeline failures, environmental issues, and software defects.
- Identify opportunities to improve test effectiveness, execution efficiency, reliability, observability, and automation coverage.
- Follow coding contribution standards and agile development practices.
- Create documentation and user guides.
- Communicate complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ Years of experience in Software Engineering, Software Testing, Software Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Python.
- Experience troubleshooting software behavior across multiple applications, services, interfaces, or system components.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Git and modern Agile software development practices.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with bash/shell scripting.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and using or supporting automated build, integration, or test pipelines.
- Experience with writing test documentation, such as test plans, procedures, reports, and defect records.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks while delivering according to program milestones and release commitments.
- Can proactively identify problems and communicate them clearly to leadership.
- Proficient at technical documentation.
- Self-starter with the ability to pick up new concepts quickly.
- Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, & or any containerized environments.
- Experience with frontend automation software such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, etc.
- Experience with REST APIs, message-based interfaces, and network protocols.
- Experience with Software in the loop test systems.
- Experience with Hardware in the loop test systems.
- Experience in testing and validation of satellite subsystems.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting.
- Experience with test management, requirements management, and defect-tracking tools.
- Experience with UI/UX testing.
- Experience with relational or time-series databases (SQL, InfluxDB, MongoDB).
- Experience with C#.
- Experience with embedded development.
- Active Top Secret security clearance or ability to obtain.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.
