About the Role
The Clinical Development Manager – Hygiene will support the development and performance of the hygiene program across Anytime Dental Group clinics in Ontario. This field-focused role involves coaching, mentorship, clinical development, and performance improvement, working directly with Registered Dental Hygienists and practice leaders to strengthen clinical workflows and build high-performing hygiene programs. A key aspect involves using hygiene KPIs and practice data to identify opportunities and translate insights into actionable improvements for patient outcomes and practice health.
Responsibilities
- Coach, mentor, and support Registered Dental Hygienists to strengthen their confidence, clinical skills, patient communication, and overall performance.
- Serve as a trusted resource for hygienists and clinic leaders, providing guidance, support, and problem-solving.
- Support the development, implementation, and growth of the hygiene program.
- Use hygiene KPIs, practice data, and trends to identify improvement opportunities and develop coaching plans.
- Help teams understand metrics and translate data into actions that improve patient care and practice performance.
- Coach teams on key hygiene performance areas including patient retention, periodontal care, treatment acceptance, schedule optimization, productivity, and comprehensive patient care.
- Partner with clinic leaders to develop action plans for hygiene growth and follow up on progress.
- Support hygienists in strengthening patient education and communication.
- Champion a comprehensive approach to hygiene care, including periodontal health, prevention, patient education, and recare planning.
- Observe hygiene workflows and identify opportunities to improve clinical efficiency, patient experience, and consistency of care.
- Support the integration of digital dentistry into hygiene workflows with hands-on coaching.
- Support onboarding and development of new Registered Dental Hygienists.
- Identify individual and team development needs and provide targeted coaching, resources, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with Learning & Development to create hygiene education, training programs, workshops, resources, and continuing education opportunities.
- Facilitate one-on-one coaching, team development sessions, clinical discussions, and hygiene-focused training.
- Share best practices and successes across clinics to build consistency and strengthen the hygiene community.
- Partner closely with Operations, Clinical Leadership, and clinic teams to support locations requiring additional hygiene development or performance support.
- Support recruitment and retention initiatives for Registered Dental Hygienists.
- Help foster a culture where hygienists feel supported, challenged, valued, and excited about their continued professional growth.
- Champion exceptional patient care while helping build sustainable, high-performing hygiene programs.
Requirements
- Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario.
- 5+ years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist, with a strong foundation in comprehensive hygiene care and patient education.
- Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, training, or developing other dental professionals.
- Experience in a clinical leadership, hygiene lead, practice leadership, education, or multi-site support role is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of dental hygiene KPIs and practice performance metrics, with the ability to interpret data, identify opportunities, and coach teams toward improvement.
- Comfortable balancing clinical excellence with the operational and performance components of a successful hygiene program.
- A genuine passion for coaching, mentoring, and helping others develop.
- Strong knowledge of periodontal assessment, diagnosis, therapy, maintenance, prevention, and comprehensive hygiene care.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and credibility with hygienists and clinic leaders.
- A collaborative coaching style—comfortable asking questions, providing constructive feedback, celebrating progress, and creating accountability.
- Ability to influence and inspire change without relying solely on authority.
- Comfortable facilitating one-on-one coaching, team meetings, workshops, and educational sessions.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn performance data into practical recommendations.
- Experience with digital dentistry, intraoral scanning, Invisalign workflows, and iTero technology is considered an asset.
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple clinics, priorities, and development initiatives.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout Ontario to work directly with hygiene teams and clinic leaders.
