About the Role
The Safety Technician assists with the development and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and programs, ensuring employee and customer health and safety, and compliance with EHS regulations. This role strengthens safety and training programs by identifying unsafe behaviors and conditions, coaching employees, and assisting with investigations, assessments, and claim management.
Responsibilities
- Apply general industry best practices and safety regulations, including NYS DOH, OSHA, NFPA, and related standards
- Coach safe work behavior and develop preventative safety policies and protocols
- Investigate accidents, analyze information, determine root cause, and recommend corrective and preventative actions
- Use online reporting databases and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to build reports and plan projects
- Lead and deploy projects by applying industry knowledge, analyzing data, and enhancing safety campaign educational materials
- Conduct worksite inspections and audits to identify risks and ensure regulatory and policy compliance
- Monitor, repair, and install vehicle safety equipment, including camera systems and gateways
- Assist with Emergency Vehicle Operation training programs and similar initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma required
- Associate's degree preferred
- Valid Driver's License with the ability to drive long distances as required
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 (to be completed within 90 days of hire)
