About the Role

The Patient Care Assistant will perform duties related to the preparation and post-exam care of patients for CT and MRI studies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties related to the preparation and post-exam care of patients for CT and MRI studies.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Ensure patient completion of pre-screening documents.
  • Perform intravenous insertion where indicated.
  • Provide instructions to patients such as waiting or changing into a gown.
  • Perform basic patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of certified medical laboratory assistant program or equivalent program including venipuncture.
  • Health sciences background with preference to candidates with medical radiation technology experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Venipuncture experience required.
  • CPR certification is an asset.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures, terminology and workflow including CT and MRI is an asset.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging computer systems is an asset (i.e. PACS, RIS, HIS).
  • Knowledge of MRI safety and radiation safety practices is an asset.
  • Previous training on safe lifting and transferring techniques is an asset.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Multi-tasking ability/critical thinking/problem solving.
  • Team player/excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills, able to prioritize.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and inter-professional team environment.
