About the Role
The Patient Care Assistant will perform duties related to the preparation and post-exam care of patients for CT and MRI studies.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties related to the preparation and post-exam care of patients for CT and MRI studies.
- Provide customer service.
- Ensure patient completion of pre-screening documents.
- Perform intravenous insertion where indicated.
- Provide instructions to patients such as waiting or changing into a gown.
- Perform basic patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of certified medical laboratory assistant program or equivalent program including venipuncture.
- Health sciences background with preference to candidates with medical radiation technology experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Venipuncture experience required.
- CPR certification is an asset.
- Customer service skills.
- Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures, terminology and workflow including CT and MRI is an asset.
- Knowledge of diagnostic imaging computer systems is an asset (i.e. PACS, RIS, HIS).
- Knowledge of MRI safety and radiation safety practices is an asset.
- Previous training on safe lifting and transferring techniques is an asset.
- Computer knowledge.
