About the Role

Professional Medical Practice, P.C. is seeking an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC-T, CASAC, CASAC2) for the medical department at the Monroe County Jail in Rochester, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, coordinate, and implement the behavioral health program.
  • Liaise between medical staff and facility staff regarding Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  • Engage patients in therapeutic interventions for substance use concerns.
  • Facilitate group and individual sessions for patients in the MAT program.
  • Assist with the detection and prevention of patient suicide.
  • Document patient encounters using the SOAPE note format.
  • Collaborate with facility staff on discharge planning for MAT program patients.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case consultations.
  • Serve on the Quality Assurance Committee and sub-committees, assisting with standards and audit criteria.
  • Participate in various medical unit and facility committees as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be certified as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC-T, CASAC, CASAC2).
  • Bachelor’s Degree / Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related Human Services degree with a concentration in drug and alcohol coursework.
  • Minimum one (1) year clinical experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently and demonstrate clinical competency.
  • Ability to gain patient trust and build a working relationship.

Salary/Compensations

  • $24.00- $28.80 per hour
