About the Role

Brookfield Energy operates one of the world’s largest publicly traded platforms for sustainable energy, with a portfolio including hydroelectric, wind, solar, and storage facilities. We are seeking a finance professional to review financial statements, manage reporting processes, and collaborate with various teams.

Responsibilities

  • Review quarterly and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS.
  • Prepare and assess support for management discussion and analysis sections of reports and investor supplements.
  • Lead the finance workstream for debt and equity security issuances by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process and ad hoc financial planning and analysis requests.
  • Provide assistance with ad hoc investor relations requests and annual investor day.
  • Analyze results and data with skepticism and critical thinking to ensure compliance with financing reporting requirements.
  • Direct the research, interpretation, and application of new accounting standards/guidelines.
  • Manage the external audit process, including quarterly reviews and annual external audits.
  • Modify existing and/or design new processes to maximize operational efficiency, including technology implementation.
  • Own internal controls for the financial reporting process to meet SOX requirements.
  • Fulfill ad hoc projects for information requests from senior management and rating agencies.
  • Commit to the development of the finance team through coaching and continuous learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Professional designation: CA or CPA.
  • 6–10 years of progressively senior experience in accounting or finance.
  • 2–3 years of people leadership experience.
  • Experience with consolidation software (e.g., OneStream).
  • Familiarity with XBRL.
  • Background in renewable energy or asset management is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex issues clearly and use tact, diplomacy, and strong negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and initiative.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels and with external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to team collaboration and developing finance team members through effective coaching.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize data into concise and meaningful reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse groups and functions.
