About the Role
The Azrieli Foundation is seeking a Grants Manager to manage a portfolio of grants within the Healthcare, Science and Research pillar, spanning various research areas in Canada and Israel.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and expand knowledge of grant-making strategies, including trends, issues, evaluations, literature, policy, and innovations.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement grant-making strategies and policies.
- Identify funding or partnership opportunities in compliance with charitable tax laws and the Foundation's mission.
- Ensure proposals and documentation are reviewed and considered according to the Foundation's processes and framework.
- Provide preliminary evaluations of submissions based on the Foundation's strategic framework.
- Develop key performance indicators for grants for Senior Management approval.
- Develop, review, and modify new initiatives in strategic areas for Board presentation.
- Attend conferences to stay informed and represent the Azrieli brand.
- Administer grants throughout their lifecycle, including intake, payment, and report monitoring.
- Follow up with funded organizations to ensure goals are met and funds are spent as agreed.
- Assess grant performance and outcomes to inform future funding decisions.
- Contribute to the execution of the Azrieli Foundation Science Grant Awards Program.
- Communicate with funded organizations to ensure brand representation aligns with Foundation standards.
- Act as a liaison to funded organizations on joint projects.
Requirements
- Advanced scientific or clinical degree (PhD or MD preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role within a public or not-for-profit organization.
- Work experience in healthcare or research in Canada or Israel is an asset.
- Robust project management skills (PMP is an asset).
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Curious, analytical thinker.
- Strong communication (verbal and written), listening, and implementation skills.
- Ability to take direction from multiple people and proactively manage that dynamic.
- Detail- and deadline-oriented with strong multi-tasking skills.
- Customer- and service-oriented with adaptability to different personalities and approaches.
- Adaptable and comfortable with change.
- Demonstrates a confident and proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Proficiency with web-based program management and knowledge-sharing platforms.
- Highly organized, flexible, creative, and resourceful with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and meet tight timelines.
- Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
