About the Role
The Banquet Server provides guests in the catering department with the highest standards of food and beverage service at all functions, reporting directly to the Banquet Captain.
Responsibilities
- Be able to read a BEO and know how to complete a setup based on information contained therein.
- Assist captain in setting up buffet and other special food service as needed.
- Greet and serve guests.
- Serve menu items to guest in a prompt and courteous manner and according to the banquet event order; times the service of courses to correspond with the dining pace of the guest.
- Perform pre- and post-shift side work; set-up, condiments, etc.
- Clear tables after service.
- Remove trays of dirty dishes, silverware and glassware to kitchen for cleaning.
- Respond to guest inquiries and report special requests promptly to ensure guest satisfaction; notify supervisor of guest complaints or unusual situations.
- Always notify the Captain or Supervisor before leaving the floor or banquet service area.
- Set-up, land breakdown banquet bars, as assigned according to standard policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Food service experience with general knowledge of banquet operations.
- Knowledge of different table settings and styles of service.
- Good customer service and interpersonal communications skills.
- Walking and standing for the majority of each shift.
- Carrying and lifting items (i.e.. plates, utensils, trays, tables) frequently.
