About the Company
- The Housing and Land directorate is responsible for the Mayor’s plans to deliver new and improved homes and strong communities.
- Working closely with boroughs and partners, we manage the Mayor’s housing investment programmes and land and property assets to support the building of affordable homes, job creation and regeneration.
- The New Homes Accelerator Team is a new team in the Investment and Operations Unit in the Housing and Land directorate.
- The Government’s New Homes Accelerator (NHA) is a programme established by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to speed up the delivery of large-scale housing developments that have stalled.
- The NHA aims to increase the delivery of homes by the end of this Parliament (2029).
- Since the NHA was established, MHCLG, GLA and London Councils officers have worked in partnership to analyse London’s stalled sites and identify suitable interventions to accelerate their delivery, but are now taking this to the next level.
- In early 2026, we took this to the next level by establishing the NHA LDN team, to take a more proactive, London-led role, to identify stalled housing sites and finding practical ways to get them moving again.
- This GLA New Homes Accelerator Team acts as our central point of coordination within the GLA to other internal teams and to MHCLG, London boroughs and external partners, minimising disjointed or duplicative communication to key partner organisations.
- They will work closely with other teams to unblock sites and get homes built in London.
