About the Role

Drivers run daily routes with frequent stops, loading and unloading packages. The role involves operating a truck in a cross-dock model, picking up loaded trucks and returning empty ones. Occasional assistance with loading, palletizing, and other assigned duties may be required.

Responsibilities

Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
Run routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
Unload product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart, placing it in designated customer storage areas, potentially down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions.
Frequently lift, push, or move product weighing 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds.
Frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand carts.
Constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer.
Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
Contact management for authorization when discrepancies are on invoices.
Communicate all errors/returns.
Call in when a customer does not receive their entire order (shorts).
Handle customer complaints professionally.
Handle company equipment properly, follow written driver safety rules, and perform a pre-trip inspection.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco policies and procedures.

Requirements

High School or GED or equivalent.
One-year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
Commercial Vehicle Drivers must have the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
Be 21 years or older.
No drug or alcohol violations within the past 3 years.
No open violations listed in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
