About the Role
This 2-year Fixed-Term Contract opportunity involves developing power systems and electrical infrastructure for Formula 1's global race operations. You will transform operational requirements into innovative electrical solutions, designing temporary power distribution systems, technical service pods, custom switchgear assemblies, and UPS-backed systems. Your work will directly support the infrastructure enabling Formula 1 to operate safely, reliably, and efficiently at global events, playing a key role throughout the entire product lifecycle from concept to deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop temporary power distribution systems, electrical infrastructure, and bespoke power solutions supporting Formula 1's global race operations.
- Transform operational requirements into practical, manufacturable electrical designs, from initial concepts to detailed engineering documentation.
- Produce electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring schedules, and technical documentation for manufacture, deployment, and maintenance.
- Develop custom switchgear assemblies, UPS-backed systems, technical service pods, and containerized power solutions.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers, Operations teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to deliver innovative and reliable electrical solutions.
- Support design reviews, project delivery, and validation activities, ensuring designs are compliant, practical, and fit for purpose.
- Resolve technical queries during manufacturing, build, and assembly phases.
- Support wiring, testing, and inspection activities as required.
- Verify compliance with relevant electrical, safety, and industry standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of products, processes, and engineering solutions.
- Research emerging technologies and support the development of new electrical products and power distribution solutions.
- Provide engineering support during on-site project delivery when required.

- Experience in electrical panel, switchgear, or control panel design (desirable).
- Experience with UPS systems or power distribution equipment (desirable).
- Experience with temporary power systems or bespoke electrical equipment (desirable).
- Experience working with manufacturers, suppliers, and external engineering partners (desirable).
- Experience supporting product development or continuous improvement initiatives (desirable).
Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ElectricalOM, or similar electrical design software.
- Ability to produce accurate electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of LV electrical distribution systems and power infrastructure.
- Understanding of electrical panel and switchgear design principles.
- Awareness of UPS systems and power distribution equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant UK and European electrical standards.
- Ability to manage design information, revisions, and technical records effectively.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
- Experience with EPLAN or other specialist electrical design software (desirable).
- Knowledge of temporary power distribution systems and generator technologies (desirable).
- Understanding of containerised power solutions and technical service infrastructure (desirable).
- Knowledge of electrical product development and manufacturing processes (desirable).
