About the Role

As a Senior Manager, Software Development Engineer on the Lodging Connectivity - Partner Developer Experience team, you will be a hands-on technical leader designing, building, and operating Lodging Connectivity services, external APIs, and developer tools. Your focus will be on creating best-in-class self-service integration capabilities for external partner developers and supply partners, driving meaningful work that helps millions discover, book, and experience travel with more ease, confidence, and joy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple software engineering teams in designing, building, and operating resilient, scalable Lodging Connectivity services, external APIs, and partner-facing developer tools.
  • Dedicate approximately 50% of your time to hands-on software design, development, and delivery.
  • Personally design and build software systems, contribute production code, and own individual software delivery outcomes.
  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled and AI-assisted solutions within connectivity systems.
  • Define and drive technical direction and system design across key connectivity domains.
  • Establish and maintain high engineering standards for code quality, observability, reliability, and security.
  • Partner closely with product, business, and operations stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical roadmaps.
  • Build, develop, and mentor a diverse team of software engineers and engineering managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Level; Technical Degree Preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Substantial professional experience in software engineering, including prior experience managing engineers and owning multi-service or domain-level systems in a production environment.
  • Proven ownership of complex, distributed services or platforms, including end-to-end responsibility for design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing operations.
  • Strong technical background in service-oriented or microservices architectures, system design (including LLD), API design, and data modeling.
  • Hands-on familiarity enabling effective technical leadership.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
  • Ability to guide teams in safely integrating AI capabilities into production services.
  • Experience leading engineering organizations that operate large-scale, highly available, and secure connectivity or integration platforms.
  • Focus on the partner developer experience.
  • Track record of driving architectural evolution for multi-service or domain-level systems.
  • Demonstrated excellence in operational leadership, including incident management, on-call practices, capacity planning, and building a culture of data-driven continuous improvement in production environments.
  • Experience using AI-assisted software development, intelligent testing, code analysis, or operational tooling in hands-on engineering work while maintaining robust governance, security, and compliance.

  • $184,500.00 to $258,000.00
  • Potential to increase pay up to $295,000.00 based on performance
